Materials for field work
- Landowner permission for sampling
- GPS equipment to obtain precise latitude and longitude coordinates of site (optional)
- Topographic/road map of area
- Clipboard and paper and pencil for mapping Phragmites patch and drawing location of samples
- Compass
- PVC frame (fully assembled encloses a 1 m x 1 m area)
- 50-100m measuring Tape (metric)
- Duct Tape
- Markers (Sharpies)
- Pruners
- Goggles or safety glasses
- Boots, if sampling in water
- Students should wear solid shoes and long sleeves and pants
- Work gloves
- Large, heavy bags for plants
- Lots of labels (to label quadrat and location and transect)
- Camera (optional)
